Senior Power BI & Data Developer – Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI & Data Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing complex Power BI reports and dashboards, as well as expertise in data warehousing, SQL, and Dataverse.

As a Senior Power BI & Data Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality solutions to meet business requirements and drive data insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex Power BI reports and dashboards
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions
• Develop and maintain data models, ETL processes and data warehousing solutions using SQL and Power Apps
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing solutions
• Write high-quality, maintainable code
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the Power BI, data warehousing, SQL, and Dataverse space
• Mentor and train junior developers

About You

• Qualifications or the ability to demonstrate independent learning in Computer Science, Software / Database Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience developing Power BI solutions and data warehousing solutions
• Extensive experience in SQL and Power BI
• Experience with Dataverse
• Understanding of software development best practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills

Technical Experience

• Strong experience in data visualization and reporting using Power BI: This includes creating interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Server.
• Knowledge of data sources: Experience working with various data sources such as SQL Server, Excel, and other cloud-based sources.
• Knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions): Ability to write complex DAX formulas to perform advanced data analysis.
• Strong SQL skills: Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and transform data.
• Understanding of data modelling: Experience creating and managing data models, including creating relationships between tables, defining calculated columns and measures, and working with Power BI’s data visualization capabilities.
• Experience with data preparation and transformation: Experience cleaning and transforming data, including creating and executing data preparation scripts, and working with data visualization tools like Power Query and Power Pivot.
• Strong knowledge of Power BI performance optimization techniques: Ability to optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance and scalability.
• Understanding of Power BI security and sharing: Experience with Power BI security, including setting up and managing roles, row-level security, and sharing reports and dashboards with others.
• Knowledge of Power BI administration: Experience with Power BI administration, including configuring and managing Power BI environments, troubleshooting performance issues, and managing data sources and data gateways.

What is the team like?

The team is built of Power Platform and SharePoint specialists ranging from junior members who are learning the platforms and working towards becoming fully certified along with experienced developers, led by our Power Platform Development Lead who has a wealth of experience with the Power Platform and SharePoint solutions. This role will provide a senior role to work with the junior members and bring new skills to assist the development and growth of our Power Platform practice.
