What does Microsoft Intune track?
Microsoft Intune monitors and keeps record of certain pieces of information about registered devices. However, it can not be used to monitor personal information, and is used mainly to provide the administrator information about the device itself. Data collected by Microsoft Intune falls under two categories. Required Data is that which is necessary for the service and includes user information such as username, hardware information, admin and account information, audit log and application inventory. Optional Data can be switched on or off, and is data gathered for diagnostics – i.e. error data and performance analytics.
Information Microsoft Intune can track includes device type (i.e. Galaxy S22), device manufacturer (i.e. Samsung), device owner and name, serial number, device IMEI, operating system and some level of app inventory. For example, personal device app inventory will only show managed apps on Microsoft Intune, whereas company-owned or managed Intune devices will track the full app inventory.
Microsoft Intune does not track browsing history, passwords, contacts, images, files, emails, contacts or your calendar.
