Key announcements from Microsoft Build 2022!
What is Microsoft Build?
Microsoft Build is an annual developer conference. The event is for developers, engineers, and IT professionals, and it aims to educate about all the latest Microsoft technology updates and advancements.
Where is Microsoft build held?
Traditionally, it is usually hosted in Seattle, but after the pandemic in 2020 Microsoft was forced to change the event to a digitally hosted conference instead. This years build event was also hosted online, and took place between the 24th of May to the 26th of May.
In this article we will summarise 4 of the key announcements from this years event.
The top 4 key announcements from Microsoft Build 2022
AI capabilities have been expanded for developers in the latest announcements from Microsoft. Azure Cognitive Services have received two new features.
The first feature is called Azure OpenAI Service, and this feature is able to generate AI models that have deep understandings of language and code, which enables users to build cutting-edge applications.
The second feature, called Cognitive Service for Language, will help with summarizing key information from documents. It is a cloud-based service that provides the user with Natural Language Processing, which will help when analyzing text.
Power Platform has been given a new logo, as seen below. Microsoft also announced that they were making low-code faster and easier to use. Additionally, Power Pages, Microsoft’s low-code website builder has been redesigned, and has some brand new features.
These include the ability to generate a working low-code app from any design input, such as PDFs, Figma design files, and pictures of hand-drawn apps. It also has a whole new design studio, a new template hub, and has the ability to be integrated with GitHub, Azure DevOps, and Visual Studio.
Microsoft Dev Box
Microsoft Dev Box is a new cloud-based service that will provide developers with cloud work stations that are secure are pre-configured and ready to code.
Microsoft announced that this tool will help save time and difficulty when having to switch between tasks, and ensures that developers always have the correct tools and resources, no matter what they are working on.
This also saves onboarding time, with Azure Active Directory integration, you are able to assign new team members to groups, which will grant access to the Dev Boxes they will need for each project.
Microsoft have announced some exciting new collaborative features for developers within Microsoft Teams.
They have added some new features to the Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio code which makes it much easier to embed an existing web app into the Teams platform, while also using it to launch an app to Teams mobile and Outlook.
Additionally, when using the Live Share tool, you can build apps that are easy for team members to annotate, share, and edit. Microsoft also announced that you will soon be able to use low-code tools to embed Microsoft Teams collaboration, including Chat and Meetings, all by using an easy drag-and-drop interface.

- Bosch Cognitive Service Maintenance app
- MURAL app
- Observable app
- SAP S/4HANA operational purchaser chatbot
- ServiceDesk Plus Cloud app
