Benefits of Data Export Service

One of the main benefits of moving to cloud-based solutions is that you save time and money by no longer needing on-premises servers to run your database. The supported target destinations are Microsoft Azure SQL Database and Microsoft SQL Server on Microsoft Azure virtual machines. If you want to use Azure analytics tools on your data or use Power BI reporting over all your 365- organisation data, DES is the tool you need.

The Data export service initially syncs the whole of your data set in D365 online and then continues to update changes so that your data is always up to date and in real-time.

Administrators can easily set up data replication to a destination database with Export profiles. A profile allows the administrator to choose data sets to replicate in the destination database, which will then be available to interrogate or manipulate as needed.

As with most of the Microsoft suite, the Data export service is very customisable, enabling you to make the solution work for you. You can choose the data that you want to pull out, essentially meaning you can save on costs as you will only put the data you need onto your azure server. You can have multiple export profiles running at the same time for simultaneous data to different databases. This allows you to capture data for different situations such as sales or service reports.
