Managed Services & Licensing

Managed Services

A Microsoft specialist running your Microsoft estate, rather than a generalist who also supports it. Valto runs the day-to-day for organisations who would rather not build the internal capability: service desk and user support, Microsoft 365 and Azure operations, SharePoint governance, licensing administration, and a Microsoft-native security operations service built on Sentinel and Defender. Every service has a written definition of what is included, what sits with your team and what the review cycle looks like.

OVERVIEW

Someone who knows your estate, not just your tickets

Most organisations do not need more IT people. They need the routine handled reliably, somebody who knows their environment when something breaks, and a supplier who notices problems before they are reported. The gap with a generalist provider is usually not effort. It is depth. A ticket gets closed, a device gets replaced, a licence gets added, and nobody is looking at whether the tenant is configured properly, whether the Azure bill reflects actual usage, whether Secure Score has drifted, or whether the licences you renewed last month are the ones you need. Valto runs the Microsoft estate as a specialist. Our services cover service desk and user support, Microsoft 365 and Azure operations, SharePoint governance, licence administration and security monitoring, with monthly reporting, quarterly reviews and an annual security assessment built in rather than sold separately. What that means in practice is that the reviews happen. Most managed service relationships quietly become reactive within a year, and the difference is whether somebody has a scheduled reason to look at the whole environment.

Our managed services

Each service has a written definition covering what is included, what stays with your team and how often we review it. Most organisations take two or three rather than all of them.

Managed IT Support

Service desk and remote support for your people: incidents, service requests, starters and leavers, change management, third-party vendor management, and named account management with scheduled service reviews.

Managed Microsoft 365

Operation of your tenant: licence administration, service health monitoring, annual health checks, Secure Score management, Intune and endpoint management, monthly reporting and quarterly reviews.

Managed Azure

Cloud operations: Azure service and infrastructure monitoring, operating system patching, backup monitoring and validation, incident remediation, cost optimisation and FinOps reviews, with quarterly reporting.

Managed Security & SOC

A Microsoft-native security operations service: Sentinel monitoring, Defender for Cloud monitoring, permission and identity management, Secure Score management and ongoing security review, available at standard and advanced tiers.

Managed SharePoint

Governance and operation of your SharePoint estate: incident management, service health, backup oversight, governance reviews, annual platform reviews and Customer Success Manager reviews.

Backup & recovery

Protection and recoverability for Microsoft 365 and Azure data, including what Microsoft's own retention does and does not cover, with restore testing rather than assumed recoverability.

Licensing & licensing optimisation

Microsoft licensing and Azure CSP under management: procurement, renewals, ongoing administration, and periodic right-sizing to remove what you are paying for and not using.

How our managed services work

Transition without a gap

We document your environment, agree the runbook, take on the credentials and access properly, and run a defined transition period alongside your current arrangement where one exists. Nothing is cancelled before the replacement is working. Onboarding is where most managed service relationships go wrong, and it is entirely avoidable with a runbook and an overlap period.

Why work with Valto on managed services?

A Microsoft specialist, not a generalist

We hold every Microsoft Solution Partner designation across all pathways. Your estate is run by people who work on Microsoft platforms all day, not by a team covering six vendors.

Security monitoring built on Microsoft's own platform

Our managed SOC runs on Sentinel and Defender rather than a third-party tool bolted on top, so detection uses the signals your environment already produces and your licences already cover.

Written service definitions

What is included, what sits with your team, response targets and review frequency, all documented before you sign rather than discovered afterwards.

The reviews actually happen

Monthly reporting, quarterly reviews and an annual security assessment are inclusions, not add-ons. They are the mechanism that stops a managed service drifting into reactive support.

Turn managed services into business value

The reason to outsource this is not to save on headcount. It is to get things done that currently do not get done at all.

Unassigned licences, leavers still licensed and the wrong tier for actual usage are found in almost every onboarding. Licensing optimisation frequently covers a meaningful part of the service cost.
Security posture, licence position, Azure spend and access rights all need periodic review, and in most organisations they are the first thing to slip. A scheduled review is the whole mechanism.
A Microsoft-native SOC gives you detection and response on the platform you already run, without recruiting security operations staff or buying a third-party monitoring product.
FinOps review, right-sizing and commitment planning as a routine part of the service rather than a project you have to commission.
Starters, leavers, resets and requests consume the capacity of the people who understand your business. Moving the routine out is how internal teams get to do projects.
Backup that is monitored is not the same as backup that has been tested. Recoverability is either verified or assumed.

How we onboard a new managed services client

From understanding what you have, through to a documented, running service with the reviews scheduled.

  1. Man looking into clouds
    1

    Discovery

    Document what actually exists

We audit your environment, licensing, devices, configuration and current support arrangement. Most organisations do not have a current picture, and this becomes the baseline everything is measured against.

  2. Team of people on a computer
    2

    Definition

    Agree the service in writing

We set out what is included, what stays with your team, response and escalation, review frequency, and the runbook for the things most likely to happen.

  3. Woman working at a computer
    3

    Transition

    Run alongside, then take over

Access and credentials transferred properly, an overlap period with your existing arrangement where there is one, and nothing cancelled before the replacement is demonstrably working.

  4. People working on computers
    4

    Stabilise

    Fix what discovery found

The first weeks usually include remediation: unassigned licences, unmanaged devices, administrative access, missing documentation. We agree what is inside the service and what is a separate piece of work rather than letting it blur.

  5. 5

    Operate & review

Monthly reporting, quarterly reviews, annual security assessment

The service runs, and the scheduled reviews give somebody a reason to look at the whole estate rather than only at what broke.

We're one of the UK's few Microsoft partners to hold all Microsoft Solution Partner designation badges, across all Solution Partner designation pathways. For our clients on a managed service, that means the people running your estate day to day are the same specialists who design and deliver Microsoft projects, so a problem does not have to be escalated outside the organisation to be understood. Whether you're moving away from a generalist provider, adding security monitoring, or bringing licensing under control, we run the Microsoft platform your business depends on.

WHY ORGANISATIONS CHOOSE VALTO

CONNECTED, ACROSS MICROSOFT

The team supporting you is the team that builds

A managed service run by a support-only provider hits a ceiling: the ticket gets escalated to somebody who does not know the platform, or to Microsoft, or to whoever built it originally. Valto's managed services sit inside a business that delivers Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint, Power Platform, data and AI projects. The consultants who designed the environments are in the same organisation as the people running them, which means third line is an internal conversation and an improvement can be proposed rather than only a fault reported. The result is a service that can change your estate rather than only maintain it.

Questions, answered plainly

Practical answers on what is included, how transition works, what happens if you want to leave, and how the security monitoring fits.

It is defined in writing before you sign, rather than described as flexible. Depending on which services you take, that covers service desk and user support, starters and leavers, incident and change management, tenant and infrastructure monitoring, patching, licence administration, security monitoring, and scheduled reporting and reviews. What sits with your team is written down just as explicitly.
No, and most clients do not. The services are separate, so an organisation with its own service desk might take only Managed Microsoft 365 and Managed Security, while another takes the support and licensing and keeps Azure in house. We would rather scope to what you need than sell a bundle.
We document your environment, agree the runbook, transfer access properly, and run an overlap period alongside your existing arrangement. Nothing gets cancelled before the replacement is demonstrably working. The most common mistake organisations make is giving notice before the new arrangement is in place.
You get documentation, credentials and knowledge transfer on request, at any point. We would rather earn a renewal than rely on you finding it difficult to move. If that sounds like an odd thing for a supplier to say, it is because a good deal of this market relies on the opposite.
Both, as separate services. Our managed security service includes Microsoft Sentinel and Defender for Cloud monitoring, identity and permission management and ongoing security review, at standard and advanced tiers. It runs on Microsoft's own platform rather than a third-party tool, using signals your environment already produces.
Frequently, and it is a common arrangement. Internal teams tend to be consumed by starters, leavers, resets and requests, which is the work least dependent on knowing your business. Moving the routine out is how internal teams get to do projects, and we scope around what your team wants to keep.
Yes, as a managed service covering procurement, renewals and ongoing administration through CSP, with periodic right-sizing. Almost every onboarding finds licences that are unassigned, assigned to people who have left, or on the wrong tier for how they are actually used.
Not in the way most people assume. Microsoft's retention, recycle bins and replication protect against their own infrastructure failures, and a lot of what people believe is backup is really retention with a time limit. Recoverability of your data is a customer responsibility under the shared responsibility model.
