Europa Capital is a London-based real estate investment firm with a strong presence across Europe.

Founded in 1999, the company is a recognised leader in pan-European real estate, known for delivering long-term value through carefully managed investments.

With decades of experience navigating both challenging and thriving markets, Europa Capital takes a strategic approach to investing in commercial property.

The firm is also part of Mitsubishi Estate Co. Ltd, one of the largest real estate groups in the world.

The challenge

Europa Capital’s technology setup had become increasingly complex over time.

Their systems were spread across multiple locations and platforms, including an older cloud hosting provider, an outdated Microsoft environment, and physical servers based in their London office.

This fragmented infrastructure made it difficult to manage, limited scalability, and posed a risk to business continuity if something went wrong.

The company wanted to modernise its systems by moving everything into Microsoft Azure, which is Microsoft’s cloud platform.

However, this needed to be done carefully to avoid disruption to day-to-day operations.

Challenges included securely transferring large amounts of data, keeping existing permissions and user access intact, and ensuring key systems like user authentication and file sharing continued working smoothly during and after the move.

The solution

Valto was brought in to deliver a full migration of Europa Capital’s infrastructure into Microsoft Azure.

Our approach involved a mix of re-creating certain systems from the ground up and moving others exactly as they were, to ensure minimal disruption.

The project began with a workshop to have a thorough review of Europa Capital’s current systems, which allowed us to map out the best way to move each part of their infrastructure.

We built a modern, secure environment in Azure that would not only replicate their existing setup but also improve it, adding better connectivity between locations, stronger security, and more flexibility for future growth.

Core business services such as company logins, shared drives, applications, and remote access tools were either rebuilt or carefully transferred into Azure.

This included securely moving files while maintaining existing access rights, creating new systems to handle printing and shared documents, and setting up a new remote access system that would support future security enhancements without disrupting users.

The migration was carried out in stages to avoid downtime, and all changes were tested before being made live to ensure a smooth transition for staff.

The results

The project successfully delivered a more stable, modern, and flexible technology environment for Europa Capital. By moving to Microsoft Azure, the company now benefits from reduced reliance on outdated hardware and complex hosting arrangements. Their key systems are now more secure, easier to manage, and better able to scale as the business grows. The migration also allowed Europa Capital to simplify its infrastructure, reduce operational costs, and minimise the risk of future system failures. Remote access for employees, especially important during periods of remote working, has become faster and more reliable thanks to the cloud-based setup. Looking to the future, Europa Capital plans to build on this success by introducing Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, and a modern company intranet. These changes will support better collaboration, easier document sharing, and more streamlined internal communication across the business. Benefits: More stable, modern, and flexible IT environment Reduced reliance on outdated hardware Improved security, scalability, and manageability of key systems. Simplified infrastructure Lower operational costs Minimised risk of system failures Faster, more reliable remote access Future plans to adopt Microsoft 365 tools Enhanced collaboration, document sharing, and internal communication
