Microsoft AI Tools Announced at Microsoft Build 2025

New Microsoft AI tools just announced at Microsoft Build 2025

Microsoft Build 2025 kicked off with Satya Nadella’s Microsoft AI vision to scale the open agentic web and provide transformative capabilities for developers everywhere.

This year the conference almost entirely focused on Microsoft AI to empower the next generation of AI software developers through advanced tools, AI development best practises, and a powerful new ecosystem that blurs the lines between applications, agents, and workflows.

New Microsoft AI User Experience: Chat, Search, Notebooks, and More

Microsoft is redefining the user experience for AI via Microsoft 365 Copilot through the following key pillar areas of user experience: Chat that can surface answers from both files in your Microsoft 365 and the open internet. This is referred to as being grounded in the web and will likely be the new way everyone will be getting answers to their questions rather than traditional search engines like Google or Bing. Search inside of Microsoft Copilot is going to be a huge game changer.  Search now spans beyond Microsoft 365 to services like Confluence, Jira, and Google Drive. This includes deep thinking and not just surface level responses to your questions. Notebook allows you to mix documents, chats, and media into AI-powered notebooks. This is perfect for storing all of your project information in one place or perhaps use summary outputs to create more content with the create interface. Agents has been the primary focus of Microsoft Build 2025 and will be the key topic for the coming months. Announcement of key Agents such as the Researcher agent that will utilise data from web and enterprise sources using chain-of-thought reasoning to provide deep research papers on topics of your choice. Another important AI chatbot agent was announced known as the Analyst agent. This chatbot agent can ingest raw data such as tens of Excel files and produce insights, forecasts, and visualizations.

  • Create is the interface that allows you to do things like turning lengthy specifications or proposals into eye catching PowerPoint decks. Perhaps create fresh imagery for those PowerPoints or even an explainer video generated by Microsoft Copilot.

AI Chatbot Agents Everywhere: Copilot, Teams, and Beyond

Microsoft is making it easier than ever to build and distribute custom AI chatbot agents:

  • Agent Store Launch: AI Developers can now publish agents to an Agent Store accessible via Copilot and Teams, instantly reaching hundreds of millions of users.
  • Copilot Tuning: A new capability allowing Microsoft Copilot to adopt your company’s tone, workflows, and proprietary knowledge with minimal data input.
  • Model Routing: A model-agnostic system that automatically selects the best OpenAI model for the job. No need to manually select what you think might be the best model.

Unifying Data for Microsoft AI with Microsoft Fabric

AI apps require flexible data handling and that is exactly what Microsoft AI technologies will provide including:

  • Cosmos DB in Fabric: Unifies structured, semi-structured, and multimedia data for AI readiness. Microsoft Fabric is a vital component of data management.
  • AI-Powered ETL in OneLake: Shortcut transformations let you apply sentiment analysis, summarization, and more as data flows in. OneLake is a key component of Microsoft Fabric.
  • Digital Twin Builder: Now built into Microsoft Fabric for no-code and low-code digital twin development.

Introducing Grok and Multi-Model Flexibility

Microsoft announced at Microsoft Build 2025 that Grok by xAI is now available on Azure, alongside multi-model support and simplified throughput provisioning through Microsoft AI Foundry. The Azure AI Foundry Agent Service allows AI Developers to build declarative, multi-agent workflows with a few lines of code. This is fantastic news for Valto who have expert AI Developers as it means we have even more options to offer as part of our AI Services. There will be an easy Integration with Azure Container Apps and Functions. Allowing developers to easily deploy agents or models to AKS or hybrid environments via Microsoft Arc. This will make it even easier for developers to build bespoke AI software solutions.

Empowering AI Developers with Smarter Tools

The foundation of AI developers productivity continues to evolve, and Microsoft is doubling down on the tools developers use every day:

GitHub Copilot Integration is going to make the lives of AI developers so much easier, allowing AI development services to become even quicker. GitHub remains the hub for developers, with Microsoft Copilot becoming even more integrated. Now open-sourced in VS Code, Copilot evolves from a pair programmer to a peer programmer capable of autonomously completing tasks such as:

  • Assign issues
  • Bug fixes
  • Code maintenance

Next-Gen Chatbot Agents for AI Development

Microsoft unveiled new agent-based capabilities that fundamentally change Ai software development and operations:

Copilot now supports framework upgrades (e.g., Java 8 to Java 21, .NET 6 to 9) and can migrate apps to the cloud.

SRE Agent is a fully autonomous agent for Site Reliability Engineering triages, mitigates, and documents issues automatically in GitHub, seamlessly assigning tasks to Copilot.

Microsoft Discovery: AI for Science and R&D

One of the most exciting announcements was Microsoft Discovery, a new platform built on Azure AI Foundry for accelerating scientific research.

With agents capable of reasoning, forecasting, and synthesizing data, Microsoft Discovery is poised to revolutionize R&D across industries, especially in biopharma.

This could lead the way for some amazing innovation in so many industries.
