Working with Lanterna to turn AI into reality for a leading law firm client

Lanterna Consulting Services LLP (Lanterna) is a technology and transformation consultancy specialising in the legal sector. Lanterna helps law firms and legal service providers become more technology-enabled by supporting them with technology strategy, product selection, solution design, and transformation delivery.

The challenge

Lanterna conceived and designed a specialist AI proof of concept aimed at helping legal professionals derive greater value from their firm’s information assets. The vision was to apply emerging AI technologies to surface meaningful insights, support more informed decision-making, and enable firms to identify both opportunities and areas of risk across their client base.

Prior to meeting Valto, Lanterna had presented other solution providers but was not confident in their ability to fully understand and deliver against the vision. After spending time with the Valto team, Lanterna believed they were the right delivery partner for the project, combining strong technical capability with a collaborative and pragmatic approach.

Lanterna’s client agreed to be an early adopter of this solution and take the design into a live proof of concept, working jointly with Lanterna and Valto to bring the idea to life in their environment.

The solution

Lanterna approached Valto with its AI-focused solution concept and design brief and the team got to work. Time was invested upfront to understand the requirements and how these would fit the end-client’s existing ways of working and underlying operational challenges. Requirements-gathering sessions and workshops were structured around active stakeholder engagement and identifying practical ways to implement the agreed approach without losing sight of the original business vision.

Valto took the initial design through to a working proof of concept, giving the end client something tangible to evaluate and build on.

The results

Valto’s technical expertise has helped transform Lanterna’s conceptual solution into a working proof of concept. This approach allowed the Lanterna team to explore innovative approaches and gave the end client confidence that the proposed solution could be developed further before committing to a larger-scale investment.

Throughout the project, the Valto team demonstrated strong Microsoft expertise, excellent development capability, effective project management, and an ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical delivery.
